DRIVING LICENCE TO BE CANCELLED FOR GETTING CAUGHT - PHONE WHILE DRIVING


Police have been warning about avoiding talking on the cell-phone while driving.

Apaert from the 2-wheeler drivers, even drivers of cars, vans, and buses indulge in talking on the cell-phone while driving. This leads to accidents and avoidable loss of lives.

Awareness to avoid this has been intensively taken up by the police. Still, this habit has persisted.

The police have been warning and penalizing the offenders regularly. Still, it has not reduced. Hence, police have decided on the next stage:

50 motor-bike drivers have been given warning notice for talking on cell-phone while driving. Action has been taken on 143  2-wheeler drivers all over Tamil Nadu.

Some drivers hide the cell-phones in their helmets and continue talking while driving. Some have attached ear-phones.

The police have started checking inside the helmets.

In the next stage severe acton will be taken on the offenders. While being caught the first time, notice is being given. If they get caught second time, the licence will be canceled.

Even listening to music while driving is not advisable.

This habit is a high risk as it can lead to accidents.

SMS REVEALS IDENTITY OF SOFTWARE TECHIE’S MURDERER


Ms. Uma Maheswari, working in TCS at Siruseri, was found murdered. Police enquiries are under way.
 
The incident shocke the IT women employees. DGP Ramanjujam took personal interest and enquired about the murder.

A team, headed by CBCID Police IG Mr. Manjunatha, has camped at Siruseeri conducting the enquiry.

The Police belived that the murder was committed by someone well-known to Uma Maheswari. They checked the cell-phones and e-mails.

They traced the incoming calls over the last 5 days. It revealed that a youth had sent several sms messages. They are conducting enquiries with him. They suspect the youth has some connection with the murder. With the enquiry in the local neighbourhood, the police have identified the killer(s).

The case may be solved in the next2/3 days.

APPLICATION FOR IOS LAUNCHED BY JET AIRWAYS


Jet Airways has launched of its mobile application on Apple’s iOS platform compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.The app will allow guests to book tickets, check flight status, manage their JetPrivilege account and enjoy special promotional offers.The app, specially optimized for iPhone 5, is available for free download from the App Store and is compatible with iOS 6 version and above.
 
The application offers a secure payment process allowing credit card transactions and by the ability to save and access booked itineraries using the Passbook app.
 
Other features include: real-time flight status check with the option to search using flight number, airport or route; registration for receiving real time flight status notifications; special offers and news updates.

SECURITY BEING BEEFED UP FOR MODIS VISIT TO CHENNAI


Tight security arrangements are being put in place for the two day weekend visit to Chennai of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
 
According to Airport Police, High officials of the police department responsible for VVIP security, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Intelligence Bureau and the state Intelligence bureau, the City Police force and those of Kancheepuram District Police held discussions on the security arrangements for the Gujarat Chief minister`s visit.
 
Mr Modi is scheduled to arrive here on Saturday at 1800 hrs from Guwahati. After BJP partymen here extend him a reception at the airport, Mr Modi will reach the venue of the public meeting at Vandalur suburb by 1830 hrs. After the public meeting , he will leave for a hotel belonging to the SRM University for his night stay.
 
On Sunday, February 9, Mr Modi will participate in the Convocation function of the University. Mr Modi will then leave for old airport and take the special plane to Kochi.

NO LIQUOR SALES ON PONGAL DAY


Chennai district collector A Sundaravalli on Thursday said alcohol sales would be totally banned on January 14 (Pongal Day) as it is Milad-e-Nabi; January 15, which is a regular dry day on account of Thiruvalluvar Day; and January 17, which is Vallalar remembrance day, besides Republic Day on January 26.

METRO RAIL – TEST RUN – ON THE SECTION KOYAMBEDU – ST. THOMAS MOUNT (PARANKIMALAI )


Chennai Metro rail is progressing with its ambitious project at the cost of Rs. 6,600 Crore which is expected to give the city public an exciting option of good and fast connection on travel between the city points.
There are 2 routes covering a distance of 45 km. The first one is between Washermanpet to Chennai Airport and the second one between Chennai Central Railway Station and St. Thomas Mount. Part of the route will be in subway under tunneled routs and the other part will be above the ground level. Construction of all linking stations is in progress.
The Koyambedu to St. Thomas Mount route covers a distance of 11 km and will be on the ground level & above. The track-work & electrification arrangements are nearing completion. The test-run is planned next month.
42 trains will be run. 9 trains have been imported from Brazil. The first train from Brazil arrived last July. The test run of the train took place last November in Koyambedu metro depot.2 more trains have arrived from Brazil.
The balance 33 metro trains are manufactured in Andhra Pradesh. Each train will have 4 coaches and can carry 1200 passengers.Metro is scheduled to run every day at 5am to midnight.

EC AGREEMENT WITH GOOGLE TO HELP VOTERS


To facilitate online voting and offering guidance to the voters, the Election Commission has entered a contract with Google. 

The facility is expected to come into effect from the 2nd week of this month. Lok Sabha elections are to be held in May.EC is making the necessary arrangements for making the election process simpler and easier. The Election Commission has sought the support of Google Inc of he United States to provide better online services.

Google has already helped more than 100 countries on this aspect. Google’s network and server facility will be used. Google will manage the website for 6 months. The services are expected to start functioning from the 2nd week of January.

On-line registration and voting will be possible. Finding the voters’ list for each family and locating the election booth will also be possible. The election process will be simplified and faster.

Google is providing this service free of charge. The recent elections in 5 states were conducted through another US Company Agami.Inc using their 272 servers. It is remarkable that millions of people watched the every-minute prompt details of the election results of the 5 states last month.Google will also publish the results of the next Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission is considering ways to use the servers and the network.
